கற்பாறையின்மேல் விதைக்கப்பட்டவர்கள் கேட்கும்போது சந்தோஷத்துடனே வசனத்தை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளுகிறார்கள்; ஆயினும் தங்களுக்குள்ளே வேர்கொள்ளாதபடியினாலே, கொஞ்சக்காலமாத்திரம் விசுவாசித்து, சோதனைகாலத்தில் பின்வாங்கிப்போகிறார்கள்.

கற்பாறையின்மேல் விதைக்கப்பட்டவர்கள் கேட்கும்போது, சந்தோஷத்துடனே வசனத்தை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளுகிறார்கள்; ஆனாலும் தங்களுக்குள்ளே வேர்கொள்ளாதபடியினாலே, கொஞ்சக்காலமட்டும் விசுவாசித்து, சோதனைகாலத்தில் பின்வாங்கிப்போகிறார்கள்.

பாறையில் விழுந்த விதை எதைக் குறிக்கிறது? தேவனுடைய போதனையைக் கேட்டு, மகிழ்வோடு ஏற்றுக்கொள்கிற மனிதர்களுக்கு ஒப்பானது. ஆனால், இந்த மனிதர்கள் ஆழமாக வேர் விடுவதில்லை. கொஞ்ச நேரம் நம்பிக்கை வைப்பர். ஆனால் பின்பு தொல்லைகள் வரும். நம்புவதை விடுத்து, தேவனை விட்டு விலகிச் செல்வர்.

பாறைமீது விழுந்த விதைகள், அவ்வார்த்தையைக் கேட்கும்போது அதை மகிழ்ச்சியோடு ஏற்றுக்கொள்பவர்களைக் குறிக்கும். ஆனால், அவர்கள் வேரற்றவர்கள்; சிறிது காலமே அவ்வார்த்தையை நம்புவார்கள்; சோதனைக் காலத்தில் நம்பிக்கையை விட்டுவிடுவார்கள்.

They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
