இணை வசனம்

அவர் நெருக்கப்பட்டும் ஒடுக்கப்பட்டும் இருந்தார், ஆனாலும் தம்முடைய வாயை அவர் திறக்கவில்லை; அடிக்கப்படும்படி கொண்டுபோகப்படுகிற ஒரு ஆட்டுக் குட்டியைப்போலவும், தன்னை மயிர்கத்தரிக்கிறவனுக்கு முன்பாகச் சத்தமிடாதிருக்கிற ஆட்டைப்போலவும், அவர் தம்முடைய வாயைத் திறவாதிருந்தார்.

பிரதான ஆசாரியரும் மூப்பரும் அவர்மேல் குற்றஞ்சாட்டுகையில், அவர் மாறுத்தரம் ஒன்றும் சொல்லவில்லை.

அப்பொழுது பிரதான ஆசாரியன் எழுந்து நடுவே நின்று, இயேசுவை நோக்கி: இவர்கள் உனக்கு விரோதமாய்ச் சொல்லுகிறதைக்குறித்து நீ ஒன்றும் சொல்லுகிறதில்லையா என்று கேட்டான்.

இயேசுவோ அப்பொழுதும் உத்தரவு ஒன்றும் சொல்லவில்லை; அதினால் பிலாத்து ஆச்சரியப்பட்டான்.

இவன் தன்னைக் கிறிஸ்து என்னப்பட்ட ராஜாவென்றும், ராயருக்கு வரி கொடுக்கவேண்டுவதில்லையென்றும் சொல்லி ஜனங்களைக் கலகப்படுத்தக் கண்டோம் என்று அவர்மேல் குற்றஞ்சாட்டத்தொடங்கினார்கள்.

ஆதலால் பிலாத்து அவர்களிடத்தில் வெளியே வந்து: இந்த மனுஷன்மேல் என்ன குற்றஞ்சாட்டுகிறீர்கள் என்றான்.

பிரதான ஆசாரியரும் சேவகரும் அவரைக் கண்டபோது: சிலுவையில் அறையும் சிலுவையில் அறையும் என்று சத்தமிட்டார்கள். அதற்குப் பிலாத்து: நீங்களே இவனைக் கொண்டுபோய்ச் சிலுவையில் அறையுங்கள், நான் இவனிடத்தில் ஒரு குற்றமும் காணேன் என்றான்.

அதுமுதல் பிலாத்து அவரை விடுதலைபண்ண வகைதேடினான். யூதர்கள் அவனை நோக்கி: இவனை விடுதலைபண்ணினால் நீர் இராயனுக்குச் சிநேகிதனல்ல; தன்னை ராஜாவென்கிறவனோ அவன் ராயனுக்கு விரோதி என்று சத்தமிட்டார்கள்.
