அந்தச் சமயத்தில் இயேசு சொன்னது: பிதாவே! வானத்துக்கும் பூமிக்கும் ஆண்டவரே! இவைகளை ஞானிகளுக்கும் கல்விமான்களுக்கும் மறைத்து, பாலகருக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தினபடியால் உம்மை ஸ்தோத்திரிக்கிறேன்.

அவன் நிந்தனையிலும், பிசாசின் கண்ணியிலும் விழாதபடிக்கு, புறம்பானவர்களால் நற்சாட்சி பெற்றவனாயுமிருக்கவேண்டும்.

புறம்பேயிருக்கிறவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக ஞானமாய் நடந்து காலத்தைப் பிரயோஜனப்படுத்திக்கொள்ளுங்கள்.

இருளிலிருந்து வெளிச்சத்தைப் பிரகாசிக்கச்சொன்ன தேவன் இயேசுவின் முகத்திலுள்ள தமது மகிமையின் அறிவாகிய ஒளியைத் தோன்றப்பண்ணும்பொருட்டாக, எங்கள் இருதயங்களிலே பிரகாசித்தார்.

காலங்கள் நிறைவேறும்போது விளங்கும் நியமத்தின்படி பரலோகத்திலிருக்கிறவைகளும் பூலோகத்திலிருக்கிறவைகளுமாகிய சகலமும் கிறிஸ்துவுக்குள்ளே கூட்டப்படவேண்டுமென்று,

தேவனோ இரக்கத்தில் ஐசுவரியமுள்ளவராய் நம்மில் அன்புகூர்ந்த தம்முடைய மிகுந்த அன்பினாலே,

ஏனெனில், முற்காலத்திலே நாமும் புத்தியீனரும், கீழ்ப்படியாதவர்களும், வழிதப்பி நடக்கிறவர்களும், பலவித இச்சைகளுக்கும் இன்பங்களுக்கும். அடிமைப்பட்டவர்களும், துர்க்குணத்தோடும் பொறாமையோடும் ஜீவனம்பண்ணுகிறவர்களும், பகைக்கப்படத்தக்கவர்களும், ஒருவரையொருவர் பகைக்கிறவர்களுமாயிருந்தோம்.
