அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் அவருடைய வார்த்தைகளை விசுவாசித்து, அவருடைய துதியைப் பாடினார்கள்.

தங்கள் தேவனுடைய நியாயத்தைவிட்டு விலகாமல் நீதியைச் செய்துவருகிற ஜாதியாரைப்போல் அவர்கள் நாடோறும் என்னைத் தேடி, என் வழிகளை அறிய விரும்புகிறார்கள்; நீதி நியாயங்களை என்னிடத்தில் விசாரித்து தேவனிடத்தில் சேர விரும்புகிறார்கள்.

ஜனங்கள் கூடிவருகிற வழக்கத்தின்படி உன்னிடத்தில் வந்து, உனக்கு முன்பாக என் ஜனங்கள்போல் உட்கார்ந்து, உன் வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்கிறார்கள்; ஆனாலும் அவர்கள் அவைகளின்படி செய்கிறதில்லை; அவர்கள் தங்கள் வாயினாலே இன்பமாய்ப் பேசுகிறார்கள், அவர்கள் இருதயமோ பொருளாசையைப் பின்பற்றிப்போகிறது.

அதேனென்றால் யோவான் நீதியும் பரிசுத்தமுமுள்ளவனென்று ஏரோது அறிந்து, அவனுக்குப் பயந்து, அவனைப் பாதுகாத்து, அவன் யோசனையின்படி அநேக காரியங்களைச் செய்து, விருப்பத்தோடே அவன் சொல்லைக் கேட்டு வந்தான்.

அவன் எரிந்து பிரகாசிக்கிற விளக்காயிருந்தான்; நீங்களும் சிலகாலம் அவன் வெளிச்சத்திலே களிகூர மனதாயிருந்தீர்கள்.

அதற்குச் சவுல்: இன்றையதினம் ஒருவரும் கொல்லப்படலாகாது; இன்று கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு இரட்சிப்பை அருளினார் என்றான்.

ஆசாரியனாகிய யோய்தாவின் நாளெல்லாம் யோவாஸ் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குச் செம்மையானதைச் செய்தான்.

அப்பொழுது ராஜா யோய்தா என்னும் தலைவனை அழைப்பித்து: சாட்சியின் வாசஸ்தலத்துக்குக் கொடுக்க, கர்த்தரின் தாசனாகிய மோசே கட்டளையிட்ட வரியை யூதாவினிடத்திலும், எருசலேமியரிடத்திலும், இஸ்ரவேல் சபையாரிடத்திலும் வாங்கி வருகிறதற்கு, லேவியரை நீர் விசாரியாமற்போனதென்ன?

அதை முடித்துத் தீர்ந்தபின்பு, மீந்த பணத்தை ராஜாவுக்கும் யோய்தாவுக்கும் முன்பாக கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்; அதிலே கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தில் செய்யப்படும் பணிமுட்டுகளையும், ஆராதனை பலி முதலியவைகளுக்கு வேண்டிய பணிமுட்டுகளையும், கலசங்களையும், பொற்பாத்திரங்களையும், வெள்ளிப்பாத்திரங்களையும் பண்ணுவித்தான்; யோய்தாவின் நாளெல்லாம் நித்தம் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலே சர்வாங்க தகனபலிகளைச் செலுத்தி வந்தார்கள்.

அவர்களை அவர் கொல்லும்போது அவரைக்குறித்து விசாரித்து, அவர்கள் திரும்பிவந்து தேவனை அதிகாலமே தேடி;

சில விதை அதிக மண்ணில்லாத கற்பாறை இடங்களில் விழுந்தது; மண் ஆழமாயிராததினாலே அது சீக்கிரமாய் முளைத்தது.

அப்படியே, வசனத்தைக் கேட்டவுடனே அதைச் சந்தோஷத்தோடு ஏற்றுக்கொண்டும்,

அப்பொழுது சீமோனும் விசுவாசித்து ஞானஸ்நானம் பெற்று, பிலிப்பைப்பற்றிக்கொண்டு, அவனால் நடந்த அடையாளங்களையும் பெரிய அற்புதங்களையும்கண்டு பிரமித்தான்.

அப்படியிருந்தும் என் சரீரத்திலுண்டாயிருக்கிற சோதனையை நீங்கள் அசட்டைபண்ணாமலும், அரோசியாமலும், தேவதூதனைப்போலவும், கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவைப்போலவும், என்னை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டீர்கள்.
