இந்தப் பன்னிருவரையும் இயேசு அனுப்புகையில், அவர்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டுச் சொன்னது என்னவென்றால்: நீங்கள் புறஜாதியார் நாட்டுக்குப் போகாமலும், சமாரியர் பட்டணங்களில் பிரவேசியாமலும்,

மேலும், பிதாக்களுக்குப் பண்ணப்பட்ட வாக்குத்தத்தங்களை உறுதியாக்கும்படிக்கு, தேவனுடைய சத்தியத்தினிமித்தம் இயேசுகிறிஸ்து விருத்தசேதனமுள்ளவர்களுக்கு ஊழியக்காரரானாரென்றும்;

நீங்கள் அந்தத் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளுக்குப் புத்திரராயிருக்கிறீர்கள்; உன் சந்ததியினாலே பூமியிலுள்ள வம்சங்களெல்லாம் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்படும் என்று தேவன் ஆபிரகாமுக்குச் சொல்லி, நம்முடைய முன்னோர்களோடே பண்ணின உடன்படிக்கைக்குப் புத்திரராயிருக்கிறீர்கள்.

நாமெல்லாரும் ஆடுகளைப்போல வழிதப்பித்திரிந்து, அவனவன் தன்தன் வழியிலே போனோம்; கர்த்தரோ நம்மெல்லாருடைய அக்கிரமத்தையும் அவர்மேல் விழப்பண்ணினார்.

என் ஜனங்கள் காணாமற்போன ஆடுகள், அவர்களுடைய மேய்ப்பர்கள் அவர்களைச் சிதறப்பண்ணி, பர்வதங்களில் அலையவிட்டார்கள்; ஒரு மலையிலிருந்து மறுமலைக்குப் போனார்கள்; தங்கள் தொழுவத்தை மறந்து விட்டார்கள்.

மேய்ப்பன் இல்லாததினால் அவைகள் சிதறுண்டுபோயின; சிதறுண்டுபோனவைகள் காட்டு மிருகங்களுக்கெல்லாம் இரையாயின.

நான் காணாமற்போனதைத்தேடி துரத்துண்டதைத் திரும்பக்கொண்டுவந்து, எலும்பு முறிந்ததைக் காயங்கட்டி, நசல்கொண்டதைத் திடப்படுத்துவேன்; நியாயத்துக்குத் தக்கதாய் அவைகளை மேய்த்து, புஷ்டியும் பெலமுமுள்ளவைகளை அழிப்பேன்.

அவர்களை மேய்க்கும்படி என் தாசனாகிய தாவீது என்னும் ஒரே மேய்ப்பவனை நான் அவர்கள்மேல் விசாரிப்பாயிருக்க ஏற்படுத்துவேன்; இவர் அவர்களை மேய்த்து, இவரோ அவர்களுக்கு மேய்ப்பனாயிருப்பார்.

அவர், திரளான ஜனங்களைக் கண்டபொழுது, அவர்கள் மேய்ப்பனில்லாத ஆடுகளைப்போலத் தொய்ந்துபோனவர்களும் சிதறடிக்கப்பட்டவர்களுமாய் இருந்தபடியால், அவர்கள்மேல் மனதுருகி,

உங்களில் ஒரு மனுஷன் நூறு ஆடுகளை உடையவனாயிருந்து, அவைககளில் ஒன்று காணாமற்போனால், தொண்ணூற்றொன்பது ஆடுகளையும் வனாந்தரத்திலே விட்டு, காணாமற்போன ஆட்டைக் கண்டுபிடிக்குமளவும் தேடித்திரியானோ?

அப்பொழுது பவுலும் பர்னபாவும் தைரியங்கொண்டு அவர்களை நோக்கி: முதலாவது உங்களுக்கே தேவவசனத்தைச் சொல்லவேண்டியதாயிருந்தது; நீங்களோ அதைத் தள்ளி, உங்களை நித்தியஜீவனுக்கு அபாத்திரராகத் தீர்த்துக்கொள்ளுகிறபடியினால், இதோ, நாங்கள் புறஜாதியாரிடத்தில் போகிறோம்.
