மத்தேயு 18:25
கடனைத்தீர்க்க அவனுக்கு நிர்வாகம் இல்லாதபடியால், அவனுடைய ஆண்டவன் அவனையும் அவன் பெண்ஜாதி பிள்ளைகளையும், அவனுக்கு உண்டான எல்லாவற்றையும் விட்டு, கடனைத் தீர்க்கும்படிக் கட்டளையிட்டான்.

கடனைத்தீர்க்க அவனால் முடியாதபடியால், அவனுடைய எஜமான் அவனையும் அவனுடைய மனைவியையும் பிள்ளைகளையும், அவனுக்கு இருந்த எல்லாவற்றையும் விற்று, கடனைத்தீர்க்கும்படிக் கட்டளையிட்டான்.

ஆனால், அவ்வேலைக்காரனால், தன் எஜமானனான மன்னனுக்குப் பணத்தைத் திருப்பிச் செலுத்த இயலவில்லை. எனவே, அவ்வேலைக்காரனுக்குச் சொந்தமான அனைத்தையும் மனைவி குழந்தைகள் உட்பட ஏலம் போட மன்னன் ஆணையிட்டான். அதிலிருந்து தனக்குத் தரவேண்டிய பணத்தைத் தரவேண்டும் என்றான்.

அவன் பணத்தைத் திருப்பிக் கொடுக்க இயலாத நிலையில் இருந்தான். தலைவரோ, அவனையும் அவன் மனைவி மக்களோடு அவனுக்குரிய உடைமைகள் யாவற்றையும் விற்றுப் பணத்தைத் திருப்பி அடைக்க ஆணையிட்டார்.
