வேதபாரகரும் பரிசேயரும் அவருடைய சீஷருக்கு விரோதமாக முறுமுறுத்து: நீங்கள் ஆயக்காரரோடும் பாவிகளோடும் போஜனபானம்பண்ணுகிறதென்னவென்று கேட்டார்கள்.

அப்பொழுது பரிசேயரும் வேதபாரகரும் முறுமுறுத்து: இவர் பாவிகளை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டு அவர்களோடே சாப்பிடுகிறார் என்றார்கள்.

அப்பொழுது அவன் கோபமடைந்து, உள்ளே போக மனதில்லாதிருந்தான். தகப்பனோ வெளியே வந்து, அவனை வருந்தியழைத்தான்.

அதைக் கண்ட யாவரும்: இவர் பாவியான மனுஷனிடத்தில் தங்கும்படிபோனார் என்று முறுமுறுத்தார்கள்.

பேதுரு எருசலேமுக்குத் திரும்பிவந்தபோது, விருத்தசேதனமுள்ளவர்கள் அவனை நோக்கி:

யூதர்கள் ஜனக்கூட்டங்களைக் கண்டபோது பொறாமையினால் நிறைந்து, பவுலினால் சொல்லப்பட்டவைகளுக்கு எதிரிடையாய்ப் பேசி, விரோதித்துத் தூஷித்தார்கள்.

அதற்கு அவர்: நீ போ, நான் உன்னைத் தூரமாய்ப் புறஜாதிகளிடத்திலே அனுப்புவேன் என்று சொன்னார் என்றான்.

புறஜாதியார் இரட்சிக்கப்படுவதற்கு நாங்கள் அவர்களோடே பேசாதபடிக்குத் தடைபண்ணுகிறார்கள்; இவ்விதமாய் எக்காலத்திலும் தங்கள் பாவங்களை நிறைவாக்குகிறார்கள்; அவர்கள்மேல் கோபாக்கினை பூரணமாய் வந்திருக்கிறது.

இவர்கள் முறுமுறுக்கிறவர்களும், முறையிடுகிறவர்களும், தங்கள் இச்சைகளின்படி நடக்கிறவர்களுமாயிருக்கிறார்கள்; இவர்களுடைய வாய் இறுமாப்பானவைகளைப்பேசும்; தற்பொழிவுக்காக முகஸ்துதி செய்வார்கள்.
