நீ என்னோடே கூடவந்து கர்த்தருக்காக எனக்கு இருக்கிற பக்திவைராக்கியத்தைப் பார் என்றான்; அப்படியே இவனை அவன் இரதத்தின்மேல் ஏற்றினார்கள்.

கர்த்தர் யெகூவை நோக்கி: என் பார்வைக்குச் செம்மையானதை நீ நன்றாய்ச் செய்து, என் இருதயத்தில் இருந்தபடியெல்லாம் ஆகாபின் குடும்பத்துக்குச் செய்தபடியினால், உன் குமாரர் இஸ்ரவேலுடைய சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் நாலு தலைமுறையாக வீற்றிருப்பார்கள் என்றார்.

மனுபுத்திரனே, பாபிலோன் ராஜாவாகிய நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் தீருவின் முன்னே தன் சேனையினிடத்தில் கடும் ஊழியம் வாங்கினான்; ஒவ்வொரு தலையும் மொட்டையாயிற்று; ஒவ்வொரு தோள்பட்டையின் தோலும் உரிந்துபோயிற்று; ஆனாலும் அவன் தீருவுக்கு விரோதமாகச் செய்த ஊழியத்தினாலே அவனுக்காவது அவன் சேனைக்காவது கூலி கிடைக்கவில்லை.

நீங்கள் உபவாசிக்கும்போது, மாயக்காரைப்போல முகவாடலாய் இராதேயுங்கள்; அவர்கள் உபவாசிக்கிறதை மனுஷர் காணும் பொருட்டாக, தங்கள் முகங்களை வாடப்பண்ணுகிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் தங்கள் பலனை அடைந்து தீர்ந்ததென்று மெய்யாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.

அதற்குத் தகப்பன்: மகனே, நீ எப்போதும் என்னோடிருக்கிறாய், எனக்குள்ளதெல்லாம் உன்னுடையதாயிருக்கிறது.

அதற்கு ஆபிரகாம்: மகனே, நீ பூமியிலே உயிரோடிருக்குங் காலத்தில் உன் நன்மைகளை அனுபவித்தாய், லாசருவும் அப்படியே தீமைகளை அநுபவித்தான், அதை நினைத்துக்கொள்; இப்பொழுது அவன் தேற்றப்படுகிறான், நீயோ வேதனைப்படுகிறாய்.

பிதாவே, வேளை வந்தது, நீர் உம்முடைய குமாரனுக்குத் தந்தருளின யாவருக்கும் அவர் நித்தியஜீவனைக் கொடுக்கும்பொருட்டு மாம்சமான யாவர்மேலும் நீர் அவருக்கு அதிகாரங்கொடுத்தபடியே, உம்முடைய குமாரன் உம்மை மகிமைப்படுத்தும்படிக்கு நீர் உம்முடைய குமாரனை மகிமைப்படுத்தும்.
