பதினோராம் மணிவேளையிலும் அவன்போய், சும்மா நிற்கிற வேறு சிலரைக்கண்டு: நீங்கள் பகல் முழுவதும் இங்கே சும்மா நிற்கிறதென்ன என்று கேட்டான்.

மீண்டும் ஐந்து மணி அளவில் சந்தைவெளிக்குச் சென்றான். மேலும் சிலர் அங்கே நின்றிருப்பதைக் கண்டு அவர்களிடம், ‘ஏன் நாள் முழுக்க வேலை எதுவும் செய்யாமல் இங்கே நின்றிருந்தீர்கள்’ என்று கேட்டான்.

ஏறக்குறைய ஐந்து மணிக்கும் வெளியே சென்று வேறு சிலர் நிற்பதைக் கண்டார். அவர்களிடம், ‘நாள் முழுவதும் வேலை செய்யாமல் ஏன் இங்கே நின்று கொண்டிருக்கிறீர்கள்?’ என்று கேட்டார்.
