அவர்கள், பேச்சிலே அவரை அகப்படுத்தும்படிக்கு, பரிசேயரிலும் எரோதியரிலும் சிலரை அவரிடத்தில் அனுப்பினார்கள்.

அவர்கள் சமயம்பார்த்து, தேசாதிபதியின் ஆளுகைக்கும் அதிகாரத்துக்கும் அவரை ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கும்படி அவருடைய பேச்சிலே குற்றங்கண்டுபிடிக்கலாமென்று, தங்களை உண்மையுள்ளவர்களாய்க் காண்பிக்கிற வேவுகாரரை அவரிடத்தில் அனுப்பினார்கள்.

கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாகவும் அவர் அபிஷேகம்பண்ணினவருக்கு விரோதமாகவும், பூமியின் ராஜாக்கள் எழும்பிநின்று, அதிகாரிகள் ஏகமாய் ஆலோசனைபண்ணி:

ஒருவன் என்னைப் பார்க்கவந்தால் வஞ்சனையாய்ப் பேசுகிறான்; அவன் தன் இருதயத்தில் அக்கிரமத்தைச் சேகரித்துக்கொண்டு, தெருவிலேபோய், அதைத் தூற்றுகிறான்.

நித்தமும் என் வார்த்தைகளைப் புரட்டுகிறார்கள்; எனக்குத் தீங்குசெய்வதே அவர்கள் முழு எண்ணமாயிருக்கிறது.

என் கால்களுக்குக் கண்ணியை வைத்திருக்கிறார்கள்; என் ஆத்துமா தொய்ந்துபோயிற்று; எனக்கு முன்பாகக் குழியை வெட்டி, அதின் நடுவிலே விழுந்தார்கள். (சேலா.)

இதோ, என் பிராணனுக்குப் பதிவிருக்கிறார்கள்; கர்த்தாவே, என்னிடத்தில் மீறுதலும் பாவமும் இல்லாதிருந்தும், பலவான்கள் எனக்கு விரோதமாய்க் கூட்டங்கூடுகிறார்கள்.

ஒரு வார்த்தையினிமித்தம் மனுஷனைக் குற்றப்படுத்தி, நியாயவாசலில் தங்களைக் கடிந்துகொள்ளுகிறவனுக்குக் கண்ணிவைத்து, நீதிமானை நிர்நிமித்தமாய்த் துரத்தி, இப்படி அக்கிரமஞ்செய்ய வகைதேடுகிற யாவரும் சங்கரிக்கப்படுவார்கள்.

அதற்கு அவர்கள்: எரேமியாவுக்கு விரோதமாக ஆலோசனை செய்வோம் வாருங்கள்; ஆசாரியரிடத்திலே வேதமும், ஞானிகளிடத்திலே ஆலோசனையும், தீர்க்கதரிசிகளிடத்திலே வசனமும் ஒழிந்துபோவதில்லை. இவன் வார்த்தைகளை நாம் கவனியாமல், இவனை நாவினாலே வெட்டிப்போடுவோம் வாருங்கள் என்றார்கள்.

அநேகர் சொல்லும் அவதூறைக் கேட்டேன், பயஞ்சூழ்ந்திருந்தது; அறிவியுங்கள், அப்பொழுது நாங்கள் அதை அறிவிப்போம் என்கிறார்கள்; என்னோடே சமாதானமாயிருந்த அனைவரும் நான் தவறிவிழும்படிக் காத்திருந்து ஒருவேளை இணங்குவான், அப்பொழுது அவனை மேற்கொண்டு அவனில் குரோதந் தீர்த்துக்கொள்வோம் என்கிறார்கள்.

இவைகளை அவர்களுக்கு அவர் சொல்லுகையில், வேதபாரகரும் பரிசேயரும் அவர்மேல் குற்றஞ்சாட்டும்பொருட்டு, அவர் வாய்மொழியில் ஏதாகிலும் பிழை கண்டுபிடிக்கவேண்டும் என்று உபாயம்பண்ணி அவரை மிகவும் நெருக்கவும்,

ஆகையால் நீங்கள் இளைப்புள்ளவர்களாய் உங்கள் ஆத்துமாக்களில் சோர்ந்துபோகாதபடிக்கு, தமக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பாவிகளால் செய்யப்பட்ட இவ்விதமான விபரீதங்களைச் சகித்த அவரையே நினைத்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள்
