அவர் வானத்தின் கீழெங்கும் அந்தத் தொனியையும், பூமியின் கடையாந்தரங்கள்மேல் அதின் மின்னலையும் செல்லவிடுகிறார்.

கர்த்தர் மகத்துவமானவர்; தமது சத்தத்தைக் கேட்கப்பண்ணி, உக்கிர கோபத்தினாலும், பட்சிக்கிற அக்கினிஜுவாலையினாலும், இடி பெருவெள்ளம் கல்மழையினாலும், தமது புயத்தின் லல்லமையைக் காண்பிப்பாΰ்.

அவர்கள் பட்சத்தில் கர்த்தர் காணப்படுவார்; அவருடைய அம்பு மின்னலைப்போலப் புறப்படும்; கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர் எக்காளம் ஊதி, தென்திசைச் சுழல்காற்றுகளோடே நடந்துவருவார்.

ஆனாலும் அவர் வரும் நாளை சகிப்பவன் யார்? அவர் வெளிப்படுகையில் நிலைநிற்பவன் யார்? அவர் புடமிடுகிறவனுடைய அக்கினியைப்போலவும், வண்ணாருடைய சவுக்காரத்தைப்போலவும் இருப்பார்.

இதோ, கர்த்தருடைய பெரிதும் பயங்கரமுமான நாள் வருகிறதற்குமுன்னே நான் உங்களிடத்திற்கு எலியா தீர்க்கதரிசியை அனுப்புகிறேன்.

நோவாவின் காலத்தில் எப்படி நடந்ததோ, அப்படியே மனுஷகுமாரன் வரும் காலத்திலும் நடக்கும்.

ஜலப்பிரளயம் வந்து அனைவரையும் வாரிக்கொண்டுபோகுமட்டும் உணராதிருந்தார்கள்; அப்படியே மனுஷகுமாரன் வருங்காலத்திலும் நடக்கும்.

மின்னல் வானத்தின் ஒரு திசையில்தோன்றி மறுதிசைவரைக்கும் பிரகாசிக்கிறது போல மனுஷகுமாரனும் தம்முடைய நாளிலே தோன்றுவார்.

நீங்களும் நீடிய பொறுமையோடிருந்து, உங்கள் இருதயங்களை ஸ்திரப்படுத்துங்கள்; கர்த்தரின் வருகை சமீபமாயிருக்கிறதே.

நீ மின்னல்களை அழைத்தனுப்பி, அவைகள் புறப்பட்டுவந்து: அங்கேயிருக்கிறோம் என்று உனக்கு சொல்லும்படி செய்வாயோ?

அதற்கு இயேசு: நரிகளுக்குக் குழிகளும் ஆகாயத்துப்பறவைகளுக்குக் கூடுகளும் உண்டு; மனுஷகுமாரனுக்கோ தலைசாய்க்க இடமில்லை என்றார்.

இங்கே நிற்கிறவர்களில் சிலர் மனுஷகுமாரன் தம்முடைய ராஜ்யத்தில் வருவதைக் காணுமுன், மரணத்தை ருசிபார்ப்பதில்லை என்று, மெய்யாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்.

பின்பு, அவர் ஒலிவமலையின் மேல் உட்கார்ந்திருக்கையில், சீஷர்கள் அவரிடத்தில் தனித்துவந்து: இவைகள் எப்பொழுது சம்பவிக்கும்? உம்முடைய வருகைக்கும், உலகத்தின் முடிவுக்கும் அடையாளம் என்ன? எங்களுக்குச் சொல்லவேண்டும் என்றார்கள்.

அவர் வருவார் என்று சொல்லுகிற வாக்குத்தத்தம் எங்கே? பிதாக்கள் நித்திரையடைந்தபின்பு சகலமும் சிருஷ்டிப்பின் தோற்றமுதல் இருந்தவிதமாயிருக்கிறதே என்று சொல்லுவார்கள்.
