எனக்கு முன்னிருந்த அதிபதிகள் ஜனங்களுக்குப் பாரமாயிருந்து, அவர்கள் கையிலே அப்பமும் திராட்சரசமும் வாங்கினதும் அல்லாமல், நாற்பதுசேக்கல் வெள்ளியும் வாங்கிவந்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் வேலைக்காரர் முதலாய் ஜனங்கள்மேல் அதிகாரம் செலுத்தினார்கள்; நானோ தேவனுக்குப் பயந்ததினால் இப்படிச் செய்யவில்லை.

ஆனால் எனக்கு முன்னால் ஆளுநராக இருந்தவர்கள் ஜனங்களது வாழ்க்கையைக் கடினமாக்கினார்கள். அந்த ஆளுநர்கள் ஒவ்வொருவரையும் ஒரு பவுண்டு வெள்ளி கொடுக்குமாறு பலவந்தப்படுத்தினர். அவர்கள் ஜனங்களிடம் உணவும் திராட்சைரசமும் கொடுக்குமாறு செய்தனர். அந்த ஆளுநர்களுக்குக் கீழே இருந்த தலைவர்களும் ஜனங்களின் வாழ்க்கையை அதிகாரம் செலுத்தி மேலும் கடினமானதாகச் செய்தனர். ஆனால் நான் தேவனுக்கு பயந்து மரியாதை செலுத்தியதால் இதைப்போன்ற செயல்களைச் செய்யவில்லை.

எனக்கு முன்னிருந்த ஆளுநர்கள் அதிகத் தீர்வை விதித்து மக்களை வதைத்தனர். உணவு, திராட்சை இரசத்தோடு நாற்பது செக்கேல் வெள்ளியும் அவர்களிடம் வசூலித்தனர். அவர்களுடைய அலுவலர்கள் மக்கள்மீது அதிகாரம் காட்டி வந்தனர். நானோ கடவுளுக்கு அஞ்சி அவ்வாறெல்லாம் செய்யவில்லை.
