சீகோன் தன் எல்லைவழியாய்க் கடந்துபோக இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு உத்தரவு கொடாமல், தன் ஜனங்களெல்லாரையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, இஸ்ரவேலருக்கு விரோதமாக வனாந்தரத்திலே புறப்பட்டு, யாகாசுக்கு வந்து, இஸ்ரவேலரோடே யுத்தம்பண்ணினான்.

ஆனால் சீகோன் அரசனோ, இஸ்ரவேல் ஜனங்களைத் தன் நாட்டின் வழியாகப் பயணம் செய்ய அனுமதிக்கவில்லை. அந்த அரசன் தன் படைகளைத் திரட்டி பாலை வனத்தில் இஸ்ரவேல் ஜனங்களுக்கு எதிராகப் போரிடப் புறப்பட்டான். யாகாஸ் எனும் இடத்தில் அவன் இஸ்ரவேல் ஜனங்களோடு போரிட்டான்.
