அவர்கள் தங்கள் தேவர்களுக்கு இட்ட பலிகளை விருந்துண்ணும்படி ஜனங்களை அழைத்தார்கள்; ஜனங்கள் போய் புசித்து, அவர்கள் தேவர்களைப் பணிந்துக்கொண்டார்கள்.

அஞ்ஞானிகள் பலியிடுகிறவைகளை தேவனுக்கு அல்ல, பேய்களுக்கே பலியிடுகிறார்களென்று சொல்லுகிறேன்; நீங்கள் பேய்களோடே ஐக்கியமாயிருக்க எனக்கு மனதில்லை.

நீ அவைகளை நமஸ்கரிக்கவும் சேவிக்கவும் வேண்டாம்; உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தராயிருக்கிற நான் எரிச்சலுள்ள தேவனாயிருந்து, என்னைப் பகைக்கிறவர்களைக் குறித்துப் பிதாக்களுடைய அக்கிரமத்தைப் பிள்ளைகளிடத்தில் மூன்றாம் நான்காம் தலைமுறைமட்டும் விசாரிக்கிறவராயிருக்கிறேன்.

அந்தத் தேசத்தின் குடிகளோடே உடன்படிக்கை பண்ணுவாயானால், அவர்கள் தங்கள் தேவர்களைச் சோரமார்க்கமாய்ப் பின்பற்றி, தங்களுடைய தேவர்களுக்குப் பலியிடுவார்கள்; ஒருவன் உன்னை அழைக்கையில், நீ போய், அவன் பலியிட்டதிலே புசிப்பாய்;

பேயோரின் அக்கிரமம் நமக்குப் போதாதா? கர்த்தருடைய சபையிலே வாதை உண்டாயிருந்ததே; இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் நாம் அதினின்று நீங்கிச் சுத்தமாகவில்லையே.

ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோன், பார்வோனின் குமாரத்தியை நேசித்ததுமல்லாமல், மோவாபியரும், அம்மோனியரும், ஏதோமியரும், சீதோனியரும், ஏத்தியருமாகிய அந்நிய ஜாதியாரான அநேகம் ஸ்திரீகள்மேலும் ஆசைவைத்தான்.

அவர்கள் பாகால்பேயோரைப் பற்றிக்கொண்டு, ஜீவனில்லாதவைக்கு இட்ட பலிகளைப் புசித்து,

வனாந்தரத்தில் திராட்சக்குலைகளைக் கண்டுபிடிப்பதுபோல இஸ்ரவேலைக் கண்டுபிடித்தேன்; அத்திமரத்தில் முதல்தரம் பழுத்த கனிகளைப்போல உங்கள் பிதாக்களைக் கண்டுபிடித்தேன்; ஆனாலும் அவர்கள் பாகால்பேயோர் அண்டைக்குப்போய், இலச்சையானதற்குத் தங்களை ஒப்புவித்து, தாங்கள் நேசித்தவைகளைப்போலத் தாங்களும் அருவருப்புள்ளவர்களானார்கள்.

நீ அவர்களுடைய தேவர்களைப் பணிந்துகொள்ளாமலும், சேவியாமலும், அவர்கள் செய்கைகளின்படி செய்யாமலும், அவர்களை நிர்மூலம்பண்ணி, அவர்களுடைய சிலைகளை உடைத்துப்போடுவாயாக.

அவைகள் எழுந்து உங்களுக்குச் சகாயம்பண்ணின உங்களுக்கு மறைவிடமாயிருக்கட்டும்.

உங்களுக்குள்ளே மீதியாயிருக்கிற இந்த ஜாதிகளோடு கலவாமலும், அவர்களுடைய தேவர்களின் பேரை நினையாமலும், அவைகளைக்கொண்டு ஆணையிடாமலும், அவைகளைச் சேவியாமலும், பணிந்துகொள்ளாமலும் இருக்கும்படி எச்சரிக்கையாயிருங்கள்.

உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த இந்த நல்ல தேசத்திலிருந்து உங்களை நிர்மூலமாக்குமட்டும், கர்த்தர் உங்கள்மேல் சகல தீமையான காரியங்களையும் வரப்பண்ணுவார்; கர்த்தருடைய கோபம் உங்கள்மேல் பற்றியெரியும்; அவர் உங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த நல்ல தேசத்திலிருந்து நீங்கள் சீக்கிரமாய் அழிந்துபோவீர்கள் என்றான்.

ஆனாலும் பாகாலுக்கு முடங்காதிருக்கிற முழங்கால்களையும், அவனை முத்தஞ்செய்யாதிருக்கிற வாய்களையுமுடைய ஏழாயிரம்பேரை இஸ்ரவேலிலே மீதியாக வைத்திருக்கிறேன் என்றார்.

அன்றியும் அவிசுவாசிகளில் ஒருவன் உங்களை விருந்துக்கு அழைக்கும்போது, போக உங்களுக்கு மனதிருந்தால், மனச்சாட்சியினிமித்தம் ஒன்றையும் விசாரியாமல், உங்கள் முன் வைக்கப்படுகிற எதையும் புசியுங்கள்.

தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்துக்கும் விக்கிரகங்களுக்கும் சம்பந்தமேது? நான் அவர்களுக்குள்ளே வாசம்பண்ணி, அவர்களுக்குள்ளே உலாவி அவர்கள் தேவனாயிருப்பேன், அவர்கள் என் ஜனங்களாயிருப்பார்கள் என்று, தேவன் சொன்னபடி, நீங்கள் ஜீவனுள்ள தேவனுடைய ஆலயமாயிருக்கிறீர்களே.
