அப்படியே யோசுவா, கர்த்தர் மோசேயினிடத்தில் சொன்னபடியெல்லாம் தேசமனைத்தையும் பிடித்து, அதை இஸ்ரவேலருக்கு, அவர்கள் கோத்திரங்களுடைய பங்குகளின்படியே, சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுத்தான்; யுத்தம் ஓய்ந்ததினால் தேசம் அமைதலாயிருந்தது.

கானான் தேசத்திலே இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொண்ட தேசங்களை ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரும், நூனின் குமாரனாகிய யோசுவாவும் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருடைய கோத்திரப் பிதாக்களின் தலைவரும், கர்த்தர் மோசேயைக்கொண்டு கட்டளையிட்டபடி சீட்டுப்போட்டு,

தமது கட்டளைகளைக் காத்து நடக்கும்படிக்கும், தமது நியாயப்பிரமாணங்களைக் கைக்கொள்ளும்படிக்கும்,

நான் உன்னைப் பெரிய ஜாதியாக்கி, உன்னை ஆசீர்வதித்து, உன் பேரைப் பெருமைப்படுத்துவேன்; நீ ஆசீர்வாதமாய் இருப்பாய்.

கர்த்தர் ஆபிராமுக்குத் தரிசனமாகி: உன் சந்ததிக்கு இந்தத் தேசத்தைக் கொடுப்பேன் என்றார். அப்பொழுது அவன் தனக்குத் தரிசனமான கர்த்தருக்கு அங்கே ஒரு பலிபீடத்தைக் கட்டினான்.

ஆட்டுமந்தையைப்போல பாதாளத்திலே கிடத்தப்படுகிறார்கள்; மரணம் அவர்களை மேய்ந்துபோடும்; செம்மையானவர்கள் அதிகாலையில் அவர்களை ஆண்டுகொள்வார்கள்; அவர்கள் தங்கள் வாசஸ்தலத்தில் நிலைத்திருக்கக் கூடாதபடி அவர்களுடைய ரூபத்தைப் பாதாளம் அழிக்கும்.

உங்களுக்கும், உங்களுக்குள்ளே தங்கி உங்களுக்குள்ள பிள்ளைகளைப் பெறுகிற அந்நியர்களுக்கும், நீங்கள் அதைச் சீட்டுப்போட்டுச் சுதந்தரமாக்கிக்கொள்வீர்களாக; இவர்கள் உங்களுக்கு இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரில் பிறந்தவர்களைப்போல இருந்து, உங்களோடேகூட இஸ்ரவேல் கோத்திரங்களின் நடுவே சுதந்தரத்துக்கு உடன்படுவார்களாக.

சாந்தகுணமுள்ளவர்கள் பாக்கியவான்கள்; அவர்கள் பூமியைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்ளுவார்கள்.

எங்கள் தேவனுக்குமுன்பாக எங்களை ராஜாக்களும் ஆசாரியர்களுமாக்கினீர்; நாங்கள் பூமியிலே அரசாளுவோமென்று புதிய பாட்டைப் பாடினார்கள்.
