உங்களுக்காகவும் லவோதிக்கேயாவிலிருக்கிறவர்களுக்காகவும், சரீரத்தில் என் முகத்தைக் காணாதிருக்கிற மற்றெல்லாருக்காகவும் மிகுந்த போராட்டம் எனக்கு உண்டென்று நீங்கள் அறிய விரும்புகிறேன்.

அதற்கு அபிமெலேக்கு: இந்தக்காரியத்தைச் செய்தவன் இன்னான் என்று எனக்குத் தெரியாது, நீயும் எனக்கு அறிவிக்கவில்லை; இன்று நான் அதைக் கேட்டதேயன்றி, இதற்குமுன் அதை நான் கேள்விப்பட்டதே இல்லை என்றான்.

பாதாளம் உம்மைத் துதியாது, மரணம் உம்மைப் போற்றாது; குழியிலிறங்குகிறவர்கள் உம்முடைய சத்தியத்தை தியானிப்பதில்லை.

சகோதரரே, நீங்களும் உங்கள் அதிகாரிகளும் அறியாமைனாலே இதைச்செய்தீர்களென்று அறிந்திருக்கிறேன்.

தேவன் தாம் முன்னறிந்துகொண்ட தம்முடைய ஜனங்களைத் தள்ளிவிடவில்லை. எலியாவைக்குறித்துச் சொல்லிய இடத்தில், வேதம் சொல்லுகிறதை அறியீர்களா? அவன் தேவனை நோக்கி:

நாங்கள் மாம்சத்தில் நடக்கிறவர்களாயிருந்தும், மாம்சத்தின்படி போர்செய்கிறவர்களல்ல.

கிறிஸ்துவுடனேகூடச் சிலுவையிலறையப்பட்டேன்; ஆயினும், பிழைத்திருக்கிறேன்; இனி நான் அல்ல, கிறிஸ்துவே எனக்குள் பிழைத்திருக்கிறார்; நான் இப்பொழுது மாம்சத்தில் பிழைத்திருக்கிறதோ, என்னில் அன்புகூர்ந்து எனக்காகத் தம்மைத்தாமே ஒப்புக்கொடுத்த தேவனுடைய குமாரனைப்பற்றும் விசுவாசத்தினாலே பிழைத்திருக்கிறேன்.
