யாவரோடும் சமாதானமாயிருக்கவும், பரிசுத்தமுள்ளவர்களாயிருக்கவும் நாடுங்கள்; பரிசுத்தமில்லாமல் ஒருவனும் கர்த்தரைத் தரிசிப்பதில்லையே.

அவர்களுடைய கிரியையினிமித்தம் அவர்களை மிகவும் அன்பாய் எண்ணிக்கொள்ளும்படி உங்களை வேண்டிக்கொள்ளுகிறோம். உங்களுக்குள்ளே சமாதானமாயிருங்கள்.

மேலும், நீங்களெல்லாரும் ஒருமனப்பட்டவர்களும், இரக்கமுள்ளவர்களும், சகோதர சிநேகமுள்ளவர்களும் மன உருக்கமுள்ளவர்களும், இணக்கமுள்ளவர்களுமாயிருந்து,

ஆதலால், கர்த்தர்நிமித்தம் கட்டுண்டவனாகிய நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிற புத்தியென்னவெனில், நீங்கள் அழைக்கப்பட்ட அழைப்புக்குப் பாத்திரவான்களாய் நடந்து,

நீங்கள் ஏக சிந்தையும் ஏக அன்புமுள்ளவர்களாயிருந்து, இசைந்த ஆத்துமாக்களாய் ஒன்றையே சிந்தித்து, என் சந்தோஷத்தை நிறைவாக்குங்கள்.

ஆகிலும் நாம் எதுவரையில் தேறியிருக்கிறோமோ, அதுமுதல் ஒரே ஒழுங்காய் நடந்துகொண்டு, ஒரே சிந்தையாயிருப்போமாக.

பரத்திலிருந்து வருகிற ஞானமோ முதலாவது சுத்தமுள்ளதாயும், பின்பு சமாதானமும் சாந்தமும் இணக்கமுமுள்ளதாயும், இரக்கத்தாலும் நற்கனிகளாலும் நிறைந்ததாயும், பட்சபாதமில்லாததாயும், மாயமற்றதாயுமிருக்கிறது.
