ஜாக்கிரதையுள்ளவனுடைய நினைவுகள் செல்வத்துக்கும், பதறுகிறவனுடைய நினைவுகள் தரித்திரத்துக்கும் ஏதுவாகும்.

சோம்பேறியுடைய ஆத்துமா விரும்பியும் ஒன்றும் பெறாது; ஜாக்கிரதையுள்ளவர்களுடைய ஆத்துமாவோ புஷ்டியாகும்.

சோம்பேறி குளிருகிறதென்று உழமாட்டான், அறுப்பிலே பிச்சைகேட்டாலும் அவனுக்கு ஒன்றுங்கிடையாது.

ஜாக்கிரதையுள்ளவர்களுடைய கை ஆளுகைசெய்யும்; சோம்பேறியோ பகுதிகட்டுவான்.

சோம்பல் தூங்கிவிழப்பண்ணும்; அசதியானவன் பட்டினியாயிருப்பான்.

சோம்பேறியே, நீ எறும்பினிடத்தில்போய், அதின் வழிகளைப் பார்த்து, ஞானத்தைக் கற்றுக்கொள்.

வாரியிறைத்தும் விருத்தியடைவாரும் உண்டு; அதிகமாய்ப் பிசினித்தனம்பண்ணியும் வறுமையடைவாரும் உண்டு.

சோம்பேறி தன் கையைக் கலத்திலே வைத்து, அதைத் திரும்பத் தன் வாயண்டைக்கு எடுக்காமலிருக்கிறான்.

தூக்கத்தை விரும்பாதே, விரும்பினால் தரித்திரனாவாய்; கண் விழித்திரு, அப்பொழுது ஆகாரத்தினால் திருப்தியாவாய்.

சோம்பேறியின் வயலையும், மதியீனனுடைய திராட்சத்தோட்டத்தையும் கடந்துபோனேன்.

மிகுந்த சோம்பலினால் மேல்மச்சுப் பழுதாகும்; கைகளின் நெகிழ்வினாலே வீடு ஒழுக்காகும்.
