போரடிக்கிற மாட்டை வாய் கட்டாயாக.

அதற்கு அந்த ஸ்திரீ: ஆண்டவரே, மொண்டுகொள்ள உம்மிடத்தில் பாத்திரமில்லையே, கிணறும் ஆழமாயிருக்கிறதே, பின்னை எங்கேயிருந்து உமக்கு ஜீவத்தண்ணீர் உண்டாகும்.

ஏனென்றால், இரக்கஞ்செய்யாதவனுக்கு இரக்கமில்லாத நியாயத்தீர்ப்புக் கிடைக்கும்; நியாயத்தீர்ப்புக்கு முன்பாக இரக்கம் மேன்மைபாராட்டும்.

ஒருவன் இவ்வுலக ஆஸ்தி உடையவனாயிருந்து, தன் சகோதரனுக்குக் குறைச்சலுண்டென்று கண்டு, தன் இருதயத்தை அவனுக்கு அடைத்துக்கொண்டால், அவனுக்குள் தேவ அன்பு நிலைகொள்ளுகிறதெப்படி?

அதற்கு அவன்: பிள்ளைகள் இளம் பிள்ளைகளென்றும், கறவையான ஆடுமாடுகள் என்னிடத்தில் இருக்கிறது என்றும் என் ஆண்டவனுக்குத் தெரியும்; அவைகளை ஒரு நாளாவது துரிதமாய் ஓட்டினால், மந்தையெல்லாம் மாண்டுபோம்.

அப்பொழுது யூதா தன் சகோதரரை நோக்கி: நாம் நம் சகோதரனைக் கொன்று, அவன் இரத்தத்தை மறைப்பதினால் லாபம் என்ன?

உடனே கர்த்தர் கழுதையின் வாயைத் திறந்தார்; அது பிலேயாமைப் பார்த்து: நீர் என்னை இப்பொழுது மூன்று தரம் அடிக்கும்படி நான் உமக்கு என்ன செய்தேன் என்றது.

அப்போழுது அதோனிபேசேக்: எழுபது ராஜாக்கள், கைகால்களின் பெருவிரல்கள் தறிக்கப்பட்டவர்களாய், என் மேஜையின்கீழ் விழுந்ததைப் பொறுக்கித் தின்றார்கள்; நான் எப்படிச் செய்தேனோ, அப்படியே தேவன் எனக்கும் செய்து சரிக்கட்டினார் என்றான். அவனை எருசலேமுக்குக் கொண்டுபோனார்கள்; அங்கே அவன் செத்துப்போனான்.

அதற்கு அம்மோனியனாகிய நாகாஸ்: நான் உங்கள் ஒவ்வொருவருடைய வலது கண்ணையும் பிடுங்கி, இதினாலே இஸ்ரவேல் எல்லாவற்றின் மேலும் நிந்தைவரப்பண்ணுவதே நான் உங்களோடே பண்ணும் உடன்படிக்கை என்றான்.

அந்த நாள் பெரிய ஓய்வுநாளுக்கு ஆயத்தநாளாயிருந்தபடியினால், உடல்கள் அந்த ஓய்வுநாளிலே சிலுவைகளில் இராதபடிக்கு, யூதர்கள் பிலாத்துவினிடத்தில் போய், அவர்களுடைய காலெலும்புகளை முறிக்கும்படிக்கும், உடல்களை எடுத்துப்போடும்படிக்கும் உத்தரவு கேட்டுக்கொண்டார்கள்.
