ஐயோ, போதகத்தை நான் வெறுத்தேனே, கடிந்துகொள்ளுதலை என் மனம் அலட்சியம்பண்ணினதே!

புத்திமதிகளை விரும்புகிறவன் அறிவை விரும்புகிறான்; கடிந்துகொள்ளுதலை வெறுக்கிறவனோ மிருககுணமுள்ளவன்.

ஆகாப் எலியாவைக் கண்டபோது, ஆகாப் அவனை நோக்கி: இஸ்ரவேலைக் கலங்கப்பண்ணுகிறவன் நீயல்லவா என்றான்.

அப்பொழுது ஆகாப் எலியாவை நோக்கி: என் பகைஞனே, என்னைக் கண்டுபிடித்தாயா என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: கண்டுபிடித்தேன்; கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்ய நீ உன்னை விற்றுப்போட்டாய்.

அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா, யோசபாத்தை நோக்கி: கர்த்தரிடத்தில் விசாரித்து அறிகிறதற்கு இம்லாவின் குமாரனாகிய மிகாயா என்னும் இன்னும் ஒருவன் இருக்கிறான்; ஆனாலும் நான் அவனைப் பகைக்கிறேன்; அவன் என்னைக் குறித்து நன்மையாக அல்ல, தீமையாகவே தீர்க்கதரிசனஞ்சொல்லுகிறவன் என்றான். அதற்கு யோசபாத், ராஜாவே, அப்படிச் சொல்லவேண்டாம் என்றான்.

என் ஆலோசனையை அவர்கள் விரும்பவில்லை; என் கடிந்துகொள்ளுதலையெல்லாம் அசட்டைபண்ணினார்கள்.

புத்திமதிகளைக் காத்துக்கொள்ளுகிறவன் ஜீவவழியில் இருக்கிறான்; கண்டனையை (கண்டிப்பை) வெறுக்கிறவனோ மோசம்போகிறான்.

ஞானமுள்ள மகன் தகப்பனுடைய போதகத்தைக் கேட்கிறான்; பரியாசக்காரனோ கடிந்துகொள்ளுதலுக்குச் செவிகொடான்.

என்னை அடித்தார்கள், எனக்கு நோகவில்லை; என்னை அறைந்தார்கள், எனக்குச் சுரணையில்லை; நான் அதைப் பின்னும் தொடர்ந்து தேட எப்பொழுது விழிப்பேன் என்பாய்.

இன்னும் நீங்கள் ஏன் அடிக்கப்படவேண்டும்? அதிகமாய் விலகிப்போகிறீர்களே; தலையெல்லாம் வியாதியும், இருதயமெல்லாம் பலட்சயமுமாய் இருக்கிறது.

உன் அசுத்தத்தோடே முறைகேடும் இருக்கிறது; நான் உன்னைச் சுத்திகரித்தும், நீ சுத்தமாகாதபடியினால், இனி என் உக்கிரம் உன்னில் ஆறித்தீருமட்டும் உன் அசுத்தம் நீங்கிச் சுத்திகரிக்கப்படமாட்டாய்.

பொல்லாங்கு செய்கிற எவனும் ஒளியைப் பகைக்கிறான், தன் கிரியைகள் கண்டிக்கப்படாதபடிக்கு, ஒளியினிடத்தில் வராதிருக்கிறான்.

உலகம் உங்களைப் பகைக்கமாட்டாது; அதின் கிரியைகள் பொல்லாதவைகளாயிருக்கிறதென்று நான் சாட்சிகொடுக்கிறபடியினாலே அது என்னைப் பகைக்கிறது.
