தங்கள் இச்சைக்கேற்ற போஜனத்தைக் கேட்டு, தங்கள் இருதயத்தில் தேவனைப் பரீட்சைபார்த்தார்கள்.

இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரின் முறுமுறுப்புகளைக் கேட்டிருக்கிறேன்; நீ அவர்களோடே பேசி, நீங்கள் சாயங்காலத்தில் இறைச்சியைப் புசித்து, விடியற்காலத்தில் அப்பத்தால் திர்ப்தியாகி, நான் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் என்பதை அறிந்துகொள்வீர்கள் என்று சொல் என்றார்.

பின்பு அவர்களுக்குள் இருந்த பலஜாதியான அந்நிய ஜனங்கள் மிகுந்த இச்சையுள்ளவர்களானார்கள்; இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரும் திரும்ப அழுது, நமக்கு இறைச்சியைப் புசிக்கக்கொடுப்பவர் யார்?

அப்பொழுது கர்த்தரிடத்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்ட ஒரு காற்று சமுத்திரத்திலிருந்து காடைகளை அடித்துக்கொண்டுவந்து, பாளயத்திலும் பாளயத்தைச் சுற்றிலும், இந்தப்பக்கம் ஒருநாள் பிரயாணமட்டும் அந்தப்பக்கம் ஒருநாள் பிரயாணமட்டும், தரையின்மேல் இரண்டுமுழ உயரம் விழுந்துகிடக்கச் செய்தது.

அவர் உன்னைச் சிறுமைப்படுத்தி, உன்னைப் பசியினால் வருத்தி, மனுஷன் அப்பத்தினால் மாத்திரம் அல்ல, கர்த்தருடைய வாயிலிருந்து புறப்படுகிற ஒவ்வொரு வார்த்தையினாலும் பிழைப்பான் என்பதை உனக்கு உணர்த்தும்படிக்கு, நீயும் உன் பிதாக்களும் அறியாதிருந்த மன்னாவினால் உன்னைப் போஷித்தார்.

அவர்கள் தேசத்தின் தானியத்திலே புசித்த மறுநாளிலே மன்னா பெய்யாமல் ஒழிந்தது: அதுமுதல் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு மன்னா இல்லாமற்போய், அவர்கள் கானான் தேசத்துப் பலனை அந்த வருஷத்தில்தானே புசித்தார்கள்.

அவர்களுக்கு அறிவை உணர்த்த உம்முடைய நல்ல ஆவியைக் கட்டளையிட்டீர், அவர்கள் வாய்க்கு உம்முடைய மன்னாவை அருளி, அவர்கள் தாகத்துக்குத் தண்ணீரைக் கொடுத்தீர்.

அவர் உயரத்திலுள்ள மேகங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டு, வானத்தின் கதவுகளைத் திறந்து,

வானத்திலிருந்து அவர்களுக்கு அப்பத்தைப் புசிக்கக்கொடுத்தார் என்று எழுதியிருக்கிறபடி, நம்முடைய பிதாக்கள் வனாந்தரத்தில் மன்னாவைப் புசித்தார்களே என்றார்கள்.
