தன் கையை அடைப்பத்திலே போட்டு, அதிலிருந்து ஒரு கல்லை எடுத்து, கவணிலே வைத்துச் சுழற்றி, பெலிஸ்தனுடைய நெற்றியிலே பட எறிந்தான்; அந்தக் கல் அவன் நெற்றியில் பதிந்து போனதினால், அவன் தரையிலே முகங்குப்புற விழுந்தான்.

அப்படியே தாவீது தன் மனுஷரைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, கேகிலாவுக்குப் போய், பெலிஸ்தரோடு யுத்தம்பண்ணி, அவர்களில் அநேகம்பேரை வெட்டி, அவர்கள் ஆடுமாடுகளை ஓட்டிக்கொண்டுபோனான்; இவ்விதமாய் கேகிலாவின் குடிகளை ரட்சித்தான்.

அவர்களைத் தாவீது அன்று சாயங்காலந்தொடங்கி மறுநாள் சாயங்காலமட்டும் முறிய அடித்தான்; ஒட்டகங்கள் மேல் ஏறி ஓடிப்போன நானூறு வாலிபர் தவிர, அவர்களில் வேறொருவரும் தப்பவில்லை.

அக்காலத்திலே இஸ்ரவேலின் கோத்திரங்களெல்லாம் எப்ரோனிலிருக்கிற தாவீதினிடத்தில் வந்து: இதோ, நாங்கள் உம்முடைய எலும்பும் உம்முடைய மாம்சமுமானவர்கள்.

இதற்குப்பின்பு தாவீது பெலிஸ்தரை முறிய அடித்து, அவர்களைக் கீழ்ப்படுத்தி, மேத்தேக் அம்மாவைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டான்.

பின்பு பெலிஸ்தர் இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் யுத்தம்செய்தார்கள்; அப்பொழுது தாவீதும் அவனோடேகூட அவன் சேவகரும்போய், பெலிஸ்தரோடு யுத்தம்பண்ணினார்கள், தாவீது விடாய்த்துப்போனான்.

அவர்கள் எழுந்திருக்கமாட்டாதபடிக்கு என் பாதங்களின் கீழ் விழுந்தார்கள்; அவர்களை முறிய அடித்து வெட்டினேன்.

அதோ அக்கிரமக்காரர் விழுந்தார்கள்; எழுந்திருக்கமாட்டாமல் தள்ளுண்டுபோனார்கள்.

ஜனங்களை நமக்கு வசப்படுத்தி, ஜாதிகளை நம்முடைய பாதங்களுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படுத்துவார்.
