அவர்கள் சாயங்காலத்தில் திரும்பிவந்து, நாய்களைப்போல ஊளையிட்டு, ஊரைச்சுற்றித் திரிகிறார்கள்.

தாவீதைக் காவல்பண்ணி, மறுநாள் காலமே அவனைக் கொன்று போடும்படிக்கு, சவுல் அவன் வீட்டிற்குச் சேவகரை அனுப்பினான்; இதைத் தாவீதுக்கு அவன் மனைவியாகிய மீகாள் அறிவித்து: நீ இன்று இராத்திரியில் உம்முடைய பிராணனைத் தப்புவித்துக் கொள்ளாவிட்டால், நாளைக்கு நீ கொன்றுபோடப்படுவீர் என்று சொல்லி,

அப்பொழுது அகித்தோப்பேல் அப்சலோமை நோக்கி: வீட்டைக்காக்க உம்முடைய தகப்பன் பின்வைத்த அவருடைய மறுமனையாட்டிகளிடத்தில் பிரவேசியும், அப்பொழுது உம்முடைய தகப்பனுக்கு நாற்றமாய்ப்போனீர் என்பதை இஸ்ரவேலர் எல்லாரும் கேள்விப்பட்டு, உம்மோடிருக்கிற எல்லாருடைய கைகளும் பலக்கும் என்றான்.

பின்பு அகித்தோப்பேல் அப்சலோமை நோக்கி: நான் பன்னீராயிரம்பேரைத் தெரிந்துகொண்டு எழுந்து, இன்று இராத்திரி தாவீதைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து போகட்டும்.

அவைகளின் நெசவுகள் வஸ்திரங்களுக்கேற்றவைகள் அல்ல; தங்கள் கிரியைகளாலே தங்களை மூடிக்கொள்ளமாட்டார்கள்; அவர்கள் கிரியைகள் அக்கிரமக்கிரியைகள்; கொடுமையான செய்கை அவர்கள் கைகளிலிருக்கிறது.

கர்த்தர் அவனை நோக்கி: நீ எருசலேம் நகரம் எங்கும் உருவப்போய், அதற்குள்ளே செய்யப்படுகிற சகல அருவருப்புகளினிமித்தமும் பெருமூச்சுவிட்டழுகிற மனுஷரின் நெற்றிகளில் அடையாளம் போடு என்றார்.

அவர்கள் பதிவிருக்கும்போது, தங்கள் இருதயத்தை அடுப்பைப்போல், ஆயத்தப்படுத்துகிறார்கள்; அவர்களில் அலப்புமூட்டுகிறவன் இராமுழுதும் தூங்கினாலும், காலமேயோவென்றால் அது ஜுவாலிக்கிற அக்கினியாய் எரியும்.

அக்கிரமத்தை யோசித்து, தங்கள் படுக்கைகளின்மேல் பொல்லாப்புசெய்ய எத்தனம்பண்ணித் தங்கள் கையில் வல்லமை இருக்கிறபடியினால், விடியற்காலமாகிறபோது அதை நடப்பித்து.

அவர்கள் காய்பாவினிடத்திலிருந்து இயேசுவைத் தேசாதிபதியின் அரமனைக்குக் கொண்டுபோனார்கள்; அப்பொழுது விடியற்காலமாயிருந்தது. தீட்டுப்படாமல் பஸ்காவைப் புசிக்கத்தக்கதாக, அவர்கள் தேசாதிபதியின் அரமனைக்குள் பிரவேசியாதிருந்தார்கள்.

அவர்களுடைய யோசனை சவுலுக்குத் தெரியவந்தது. அவனைக் கொலைசெய்யும்படி அவர்கள் இரவும் பகலும் கோட்டைவாசல்களைக் காத்துக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.
