அநேக இக்கட்டுகளையும் ஆபத்துகளையும் காணும்படி செய்த என்னை நீர் திரும்பவும் உயிர்ப்பித்து, திரும்பவும் என்னைப் பூமியின் பாதாளங்களிலிருந்து ஏறப்பண்ணுவீர்.

எழும்பு, எழும்பு, கர்த்தருடைய உக்கிரத்தின் பாத்திரத்தை அவர் கையில் வாங்கிக் குடித்திருக்கிற எருசலேமே, எழுந்துநில், தத்தளிக்கச்செய்யும் பாத்திரத்தின் வண்டல்களை உறிஞ்சிக் குடித்தாய்.

கர்த்தராகிய உன் ஆண்டவரும் தம்முடைய ஜனத்துக்காக வழக்காடப்போகிற உன் தேவனுமானவர் சொல்லுகிறது என்னவென்றால்: இதோ தத்தளிப்பின் பாத்திரத்தை உன் கையிலிருந்து நீக்கிப்போடுகிறேன், இனி என் உக்கிரத்தினுடைய பாத்திரத்தின் வண்டல்களை நீ குடிப்பதில்லை.

கலங்கிப் பொங்குகிற மதுபானத்தினால் நிறைந்த பாத்திரம் கர்த்தருடைய கையிலிருக்கிறது, அதிலிருந்து வார்க்கிறார்; பூமியிலுள்ள துன்மார்க்கர் அனைவரும் அதின் வண்டல்களை உறிஞ்சிக் குடிப்பார்கள்.

இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் என்னை நோக்கி: நான் உன்னை அனுப்புகிற ஜாதிகள் குடித்து, நான் தங்களுக்குள் அனுப்பும் பட்டயத்தால் அவர்கள் தள்ளாடி, புத்திகெட்டுப்போகும்படிக்கு,

இப்பொழுதும் உடன்படிக்கையையும் கிருபையையும் காக்கிற வல்லமையும் பயங்கரமுமுள்ள மகா தேவனாகிய எங்கள் தேவனே, அசீரியா ராஜாக்களின் நாட்கள் முதற்கொண்டு இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் எங்களுக்கும் எங்கள் ராஜாக்களுக்கும், எங்கள் பிரபுக்களுக்கும், எங்கள் ஆசாரியர்களுக்கும் எங்கள் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளுக்கும், எங்கள் பிதாக்களுக்கும் உம்முடைய ஜனங்கள் அனைவருக்கும் நேரிட்ட சகல வருத்தமும் உமக்கு முன்பாக அற்பமாய்க் காணப்படாதிருப்பதாக.

ஊத்ஸ்தேசவாசியாகிய ஏதோம் குமாரத்தியே, சந்தோஷித்துக் களிகூரு; பாத்திரம் உன்னிடத்திற்கும் தாண்டிவரும், அப்பொழுது நீ வெறித்து, மானபங்கமாய்க் கிடப்பாய்.

உன் சகோதரியின் வழியிலே நீ நடந்தாய்; ஆகையால் அவளுடைய பாத்திரத்தை உன் கையிலே கொடுப்பேன்.

எருசலேமில் சம்பவித்ததுபோல வானத்தின்கீழ் எங்கும் சம்பவியாதிருக்கிற பெரிய தீங்கை எங்கள்மேல் வரப்பண்ணினதினால், அவர் எங்களுக்கும் எங்களை நியாயந்தீர்த்த நியாயாதிபதிகளுக்கும் விரோதமாகச் சொல்லியிருந்த தம்முடைய வார்த்தைகளை நிறைவேற்றினார்.

நீ மகிமையினால் அல்ல, இலச்சையினால் நிரப்பப்படுவாய்; நீயும் குடித்து விருத்தசேதனமில்லாதவன் என்று விளங்கு; கர்த்தருடைய வலதுகையில் இருக்கிற பாத்திரம் உன்னிடத்திற்குத் திரும்பும்; உன் மகிமையின்மேல் இலச்சையான வாந்திபண்ணுவாய்.

அப்பொழுது மகா நகரம் மூன்று பங்காகப் பிரிக்கப்பட்டது, புறஜாதிகளுடைய பட்டணங்கள் விழுந்தன. மகா பாபிலோனுக்கு தேவனுடைய உக்கிரமான கோபாக்கினையாகிய மதுவுள்ள பாத்திரத்தைக் கொடுக்கும்படி அது அவருக்கு முன்பாக நினைப்பூட்டப்பட்டது.

ஐயையோ! சல்லாவும் இரத்தாம்பரமும் சிவப்பாடையும் தரித்து, பொன்னினாலும் இரத்தினங்களினாலும் முத்துக்களினாலும் சிங்காரிக்கப்பட்டிருந்த மகா நகரமே! ஒரு நாழிகையிலே இவ்வளவு ஐசுவரியமும் அழிந்துபோயிற்றே! என்று சொல்லி, அழுது துக்கிப்பார்கள்.
