அந்த ஐந்து ராஜாக்களும் ஓடிப்போய், மக்கெதாவிலிருக்கிற ஒரு கெபியில் ஒளித்துக்கொண்டார்கள்.

ராஜாக்கள் வந்து யுத்தம்பண்ணினார்கள்; அப்பொழுது கானானியரின் ராஜாக்கள் மெகிதோவின் தண்ணீர் அருகான தானாக்கிலே யுத்தம்பண்ணினார்கள்; அவர்களுக்குத் திரவியக்கொள்ளை கிடைக்கவில்லை.

யோர்தானுக்கு இப்புறத்திலே மேற்கே லீபனோனின் பள்ளத்தாக்கிலுள்ள பாகால்காத்முதற்கொண்டு சேயீருக்கு ஏறிப்போகிற ஆலாக்மலைமட்டும், மலைகளிலும் பள்ளத்தாக்குகளிலும் சமபூமியிலும் மலைகளுக்கடுத்த புறங்களிலும் வனாந்தரத்திலும் தெற்குத் தேசத்திலும் இருக்கிறதும்,

இந்தக் காரியத்தில் உங்கள் சொற்கேட்க யார் சம்மதிப்பான்? யுத்தத்திற்குப் போனவர்களின் பங்கு எவ்வளவோ, அவ்வளவு ரஸ்துக்களண்டையில் இருந்தவர்களுக்கும் பங்குவீதம் கிடைக்கவேண்டும்; சரிபங்காகப் பங்கிடுவார்களாக என்றான்.

அவர்களுடைய இரதங்களிலிருந்து உருளைகள் கழலவும், அவர்கள் தங்கள் இரதங்களை வருத்தத்தோடே நடத்தவும் பண்ணினார்; அப்பொழுது எகிப்தியர்: இஸ்ரவேலரைவிட்டு ஓடிப்போவோம், கர்த்தர் அவர்களுக்குத் துணைநின்று எகிப்தியருக்கு விரோதமாய் யுத்தம்பண்ணுகிறார் என்றார்கள்.

அவர்களைக் கொன்றுபோட்டதுமன்றி, மீதியானியரின் ஐந்து ராஜாக்களாகிய ஏவி, ரேக்கேம், சூர், ஊர், ரேபா என்பவர்களையும் கொன்றுபோட்டார்கள். பேயோரின் குமாரனாகிய பிலேயாமையும் பட்டயத்தினாலே கொன்றுபோட்டார்கள்.

கொள்ளையிடப்பட்டதை இரண்டு பங்காகப் பங்கிட்டு, யுத்தத்திற்குப் படையெடுத்துப்போனவர்களுக்கும் சபையனைத்திற்கும் கொடுங்கள்.

அந்தப் பொன்னை மோசேயும் ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரும் ஆயிரம்பேருக்குத் தலைவரானவர்களின் கையிலும், நூறுபேருக்குத் தலைவரானவர்களின் கையிலும் வாங்கி, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு ஞாபகக்குறியாக ஆசரிப்புக் கூடாரத்திலே கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் கொண்டுவந்து வைத்தார்கள்.

அந்த ராஜாக்கள் எல்லாரையும் அவர்கள் தேசத்தையும் யோசுவா ஒருமிக்கப் பிடித்தான்; இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேலுக்காக யுத்தம்பண்ணினார்.

அவர்கள் கொள்ளையைக் கண்டு பிடிக்கவில்லையோ, அதைப் பங்கிடவேண்டாமோ, ஆளுக்கு இரண்டொரு பெண்களையும், சிசெராவுக்குக் கொள்ளையிட்ட பலவருணமான ஆடைகளையும், கொள்ளையிட்ட பலவருணமான சித்திரத் தையலாடைகளையும், கொள்ளையிட்டவர்களின் கழுத்துக்கு இருபுறமும் பொருந்தும் சித்திரத்தையலுள்ள பலவருணமான ஆடையையும் கொடுக்கவேண்டாமோ என்றாள்.

பூமியின் ராஜாக்களும், பெரியோர்களும், ஐசுவரியவான்களும், சேனைத்தலைவர்களும், பலவான்களும், அடிமைகள் யாவரும், சுயாதீனர் யாவரும், பர்வதங்களின் குகைகளிலும் கன்மலைகளிலும் ஒளித்துக்கொண்டு,

பின்பு ஒரு தூதன் சூரியனில் நிற்கக்கண்டேன்; அவன் வானத்தின் மத்தியில் பறக்கிற சகல பறவைகளையும் பார்த்து:
