சேனைகளின் ராஜாக்கள் தத்தளித்து ஓடினார்கள்; வீட்டிலிருந்த ஸ்திரீயானவள் கொள்ளைப்பொருளைப் பங்கிட்டாள்.

ஜாதிகளைச் சங்கரித்தேன்; அவர்கள் துருகங்கள் பாழாயின; அவர்களுடைய வீதிகளை ஒருவரும் கடந்துபோகாதபடிக்குப் பாழாக்கினேன்; அவர்களுடைய பட்டணங்கள் மனுஷரில்லாதபடிக்கும் குடியில்லாதபடிக்கும் அவாந்தரையாயின.

அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் ஒரு தூதனை அனுப்பினார்; அவன் அசீரியருடைய ராஜாவின் பாளயத்திலுள்ள சகல பராக்கிரமசாலிகளையும், தலைவரையும், சேனாபதிகளையும் அதம்பண்ணினான்; அப்படியே சனகெரிப் செத்தமுகமாய்த் தன்தேசத்திற்குத் திரும்பினான்; அங்கே அவன் தன் தேவனுடைய கோவிலுக்குள் பிரவேசிக்கிறபோது, அவனுடைய கர்ப்பப்பிறப்பான சிலர் அவனைப் பட்டயத்தால் வெட்டிப்போட்டார்கள்.

அப்பொழுது அவர் தமது கோபத்திலே அவர்களோடே பேசி, தமது உக்கிரத்திலே அவர்களைக் கலங்கப்பண்ணுவார்.

இப்போதும் ராஜாக்களே, உணர்வடையுங்கள் பூமியின் நியாயாதிபதிகளே, எச்சரிக்கையாயிருங்கள்.

உன்னதமானவராகிய கர்த்தர் பயங்கரமானவரும், பூமியின்மீதெங்கும் மகத்துவமான ராஜாவுமாயிருக்கிறார்.

இதோ, ராஜாக்கள் கூடிக்கொண்டு, ஏகமாய்க் கடந்துவந்தார்கள்.

அலறுங்கள், கர்த்தரின் நாள் சமீபமாயிருக்கிறது, அது சர்வவல்லவரிடத்திலிருந்து மகா சங்காரமாய் வரும்.

இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கடந்து தீருமளவும், கர்த்தர் யோர்தானின் தண்ணீரை அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக வற்றிப்போகப்பண்ணினதை, யோர்தானுக்கு மேல்கரையில் குடியிருந்த எமோரியரின் சகல ராஜாக்களும் கேட்டதுமுதற்கொண்டு, அவர்கள் இருதயம் கரைந்து, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு முன்பாகச் சோர்ந்துபோனார்கள்.

பூமியின் ராஜாக்களும், பெரியோர்களும், ஐசுவரியவான்களும், சேனைத்தலைவர்களும், பலவான்களும், அடிமைகள் யாவரும், சுயாதீனர் யாவரும், பர்வதங்களின் குகைகளிலும் கன்மலைகளிலும் ஒளித்துக்கொண்டு,

பின்பு ஒரு தூதன் சூரியனில் நிற்கக்கண்டேன்; அவன் வானத்தின் மத்தியில் பறக்கிற சகல பறவைகளையும் பார்த்து:
