இஸ்ரவேல் எகிப்திலும், யாக்கோபின் குடும்பம் அந்நிய பாஷைக்காரரான ஜனத்திலுமிருந்து புறப்பட்டபோது,

கிழவன் என்று முகம்பாராமலும், வாலிபன் என்று இரங்காமலும் இருக்கும் கொடிய முகமுள்ளதும்,

இஸ்ரவேல் வம்சத்தாரே, இதோ, தூரத்திலிருந்து நான் உங்கள்மேல் ஒரு ஜாதியைக் கொண்டுவருவேன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்; அது பலத்த ஜாதி, அது பூர்வகாலத்து ஜாதி, அவர்கள் நீ அறியாத பாஷையைப் பேசும் ஜாதி, அவர்கள் பேசுகிறது இன்னதென்று உனக்கு விளங்காது.

மறுபாஷைக்காரராலும், மறுஉதடுகளாலும் இந்த ஜனங்களிடத்தில் பேசுவேன்; ஆகிலும் அவர்கள் எனக்குச் செவிகொடுப்பதில்லையென்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்று வேதத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறதே.

அந்த ராத்திரியிலே நான் எகிப்துதேசமெங்கும் கடந்துபோய், எகிப்து தேசத்திலுள்ள மனிதர் முதல் மிருக ஜீவன்கள் மட்டும், முதற்பேறாயிருக்கிறவைகளையெல்லாம் அதம்பண்ணி, எகிப்து தேவர்களின்மேல் நீதியைச் செலுத்துவேன்; நானே கர்த்தர்.

இது கர்த்தருடைய பஸ்காவாகிய பலி; அவர் எகிப்தியரை அதம்பண்ணி, நம்முடைய வீடுகளைத் தப்பப்பண்ணினபோது, எகிப்திலிருந்த இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருடைய வீடுகளைக் கடந்துபோனார் என்று நீங்கள் சொல்லவேண்டும் என்றான். அப்பொழுது ஜனங்கள் தலைவணங்கிப் பணிந்துகொண்டார்கள்.

நடுராத்திரியிலே சிங்காசனத்தின் மேல் வீற்றிருக்கும் பார்வோனுடைய தலைப்பிள்ளை முதல் காவல் கிடங்கிலிருக்கும் சிறைப்பட்டவனின் தலைப்பிள்ளை வரைக்கும், எகிப்து தேசத்தில் இருந்த முதற்பேறனைத்தையும் மிருகஜீவன்களின் தலையீற்றனைத்தையும் கர்த்தர் அழித்தார்.

அந்நாளில் நீ உன் புத்திரனை நோக்கி: நான் எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்படுகையில், கர்த்தர் எனக்குச் செய்ததற்காக இப்படி நடப்பிக்கப்படுகிறது என்று சொல்.

பிற்காலத்தில் உன் குமாரன்: இது என்ன என்று உன்னைக் கேட்டால்; நீ அவனை நோக்கி: கர்த்தர் எங்களைப் பலத்த கையினால் அடிமைத்தன வீடாகிய எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணினார்.

இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்டபின்பு, யோர்தானுக்கு இப்புறத்தில் எஸ்போனில் குடியிருந்த எமோரியரின் ராஜாவாகிய சீகோனுடைய தேசத்திலுள்ள பெத்பெயோருக்கு எதிரான பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே, அவர்களுக்கு மோசே சொன்ன சாட்சிகளும் கட்டளைகளும் நியாயங்களும் இவைகளே.

இனிப் பிறக்கும் பிள்ளைகளாகிய பின்சந்ததியார் அதை அறிந்துகொண்டு, அவர்கள் எழும்பித் தங்கள் பிள்ளைகளுக்கு அவைகளைச் சொல்லும்படிக்கும்;

இஸ்ரவேலின் மேய்ப்பரே, யோசேப்பை ஆட்டுமந்தையைப்போல நடத்துகிறவரே, செவிகொடும்; கேருபீன்கள் மத்தியில் வாசம்பண்ணுகிறவரே, பிரகாசியும்.

பரியாச உதடுகளினாலும் அந்நியபாஷையினாலும் இந்த ஜனத்தோடே பேசுவார்.

என் ஓய்வுநாட்களைப் பரிசுத்தமாக்குங்கள்; நான் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் என்று நீங்கள் அறியும்படிக்கு அவைகள் எனக்கும் உங்களுக்கும் அடையாளமாயிருக்கும் என்றேன்.

பெரிய பாத்திரங்களில் மதுபானத்தைக் குடித்து, சிறந்த பரிமளதைலங்களைப் பூசிக்கொள்ளுகிறார்கள்; ஆனாலும் யோசேப்புக்கு நேரிட்ட ஆபத்துக்குக் கவலைப்படாமற்போகிறார்கள்.
