என் கன்மலையாகிய கர்த்தாவே, உம்மை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிடுகிறேன்; நீர் கேளாதவர்போல மவுனமாயிராதேயும், நீர் மவுனமாயிருந்தால் நான் குழியில் இறங்குகிறவர்களுக்கு ஒப்பாவேன்.

கர்த்தாவே, சீக்கிரமாய் எனக்குச் செவிகொடும், என் ஆவி தொய்ந்துபோகிது; நான் குழியில் இறங்குகிறவர்களுக்கு ஒப்பாகாதபடிக்கு, உமது முகத்தை எனக்கு மறையாதேயும்.

என் சுவாசம் ஒழிகிறது; என் நாட்கள் முடிகிறது; பிரேதக்குழி எனக்கு ஆயத்தமாயிருக்கிறது.

கர்த்தாவே, நீர் எனக்குச் செவிகொடுத்து என்மேல் இரக்கமாயிரும்; கர்த்தாவே, நீர் எனக்குச் சகாயராயிரும் என்று சொல்லி;

செத்தவனைப்போல எல்லாராலும் முழுவதும் மறக்கப்பட்டேன்; உடைந்தபாத்திரத்தைப் போலானேன்.

நான் சிறுமையும் எளிமையுமானவன், என் இருதயம் எனக்குள் குத்துண்டிருக்கிறது.

இதோ, சமாதானத்துக்குப் பதிலாக மகா கசப்பு வந்திருந்தது, தேவரீரோ என் ஆத்துமாவை நேசித்து அழிவின் குழிக்கு விலக்கினீர்; என் பாவங்களையெல்லாம் உமது முதுகுக்குப் பின்னாக எறிந்துவிட்டீர்.

பூர்வகாலத்து ஜனத்தண்டக்குக் குழியில் இறங்குகிறவர்களோடே நான் உன்னை இறங்கப்பண்ணுவேன்; நீ குடியேறாதிருக்கும்படி பூர்வகாலமுதற்கொண்டு பாழாயிருக்கிற பூமியின் தாழ்விடங்களிலே குழியில் இறங்குகிறவர்களோடேகூட நான் உன்னைத் தங்கியிருக்கப்பண்ணுவேன்; ஜீவனுள்ளோருடைய தேசத்திலோ மகிமை விளங்கச் செய்வேன்.

பர்வதங்களின் அடிவாரங்கள் பரியந்தமும் இறங்கினேன்; பூமியின் தாழ்ப்பாள்கள் என்றென்றைக்கும் என்னை அடைக்கிறதாயிருந்தது; ஆனாலும் என் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தாவே, நீர் என் பிராணனை அழிவுக்குத் தப்புவித்தீர்.

அன்றியும் நாம் பெலனற்றவர்களாயிருக்கும்போதே, குறித்த காலத்தில் கிறிஸ்து அக்கிரமக்காரருக்காக மரித்தார்.

நாங்கள் எங்கள்மேல் நம்பிக்கையாயிராமல், மரித்தோரை எழுப்புகிற தேவன்மேல் நம்பிக்கையாயிருக்கத்தக்கதாக, மரணம் வருமென்று நாங்கள் எங்களுக்குள்ளே நிச்சயித்திருந்தோம்.

ஏனெனில் அவர் பலவீனத்தால் சிலுவையில் அறையப்பட்டிருந்தும், தேவனுடைய வல்லமையினால் பிழைத்திருக்கிறார்; அப்படி நாங்களும் அவருக்குள் பலவீனராயிருந்தும், உங்களிடமாய் விளங்கிய தேவனுடைய வல்லமையினால் அவருடனேகூடப் பிழைத்திருப்போம்.
