இப்பொழுதோ வழிநடக்கிற யாவரும் அதைப் பறிக்கும்படியாக அதின் அடைப்புகளை ஏன் தகர்த்துப்போட்டீர்?

ஆண்டவர் தப்பவிடாமல் யாக்கோபின் வாசஸ்தலங்களையெல்லாம் விழுங்கினார்; அவர் யூதா குமாரத்தியின் அரண்களையெல்லாம் தமது சினத்திலே இடித்து, தரையோடே தரையாக்கிப்போட்டார்; ராஜ்யத்தையும் அதின் பிரபுக்களையும் பரிசுத்தக்குலைச்சலாக்கினார்.

ஆண்டவர் பகைஞன்போலானார்; இஸ்ரவேலை விழுங்கினார்; அதின் அரண்மனைகளையெல்லாம் விழுங்கினார்; அதின் அரண்களை அழித்து, யூதா குமாரத்திக்கு மிகுந்த துக்கிப்பையும் சலிப்பையும் உண்டாக்கினார்.

அவர்கள் கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாய் யுத்தம்பண்ணினபடியினால், ராஜாவாகிய ரெகொபெயாமின் ஐந்தாம் வருஷத்தில் எகிப்தின் ராஜாவாகிய சீஷாக் ஆயிரத்து இருநூறு இரதங்களோடும், அறுபதினாயிரம் குதிரைவீரரோடும் எருசலேமுக்கு விரோதமாய் வந்தான்.

அக்காலங்களிலே வெளியே போகிறவர்களுக்கும் உள்ளே வருகிறவர்களுக்கும் சமாதானம் இல்லை; தேசங்களின் குடிகளெல்லாருக்குள்ளும் மகா அமளி உண்டாயிருந்து,

நீர் அவனையும் அவன் வீட்டையும் அவனுக்கு உண்டான எல்லாவற்றையும் சுற்றி வேலியடைக்கவில்லையோ? அவன் கைகளின் கிரியையை ஆசீர்வதித்தீர்; அவனுடைய சம்பத்து தேசத்தில் பெருகிற்று.

இப்போதும் நான் என் திராட்சத்தோட்டத்துக்குச் செய்வதை உங்களுக்கு அறிவிப்பேன்; அதின் வேலியை எடுத்துப்போடுவேன், அது மேய்ந்துபோடப்படும்; அதின் அடைப்பைத் தகர்ப்பேன், அது மிதியுண்டுபோம்.

பின்பு நான் கடற்கரை மணலின்மேல் நின்றேன். அப்பொழுது சமுத்திரத்திலிருந்து ஒரு மிருகம் எழும்பிவரக் கண்டேன்; அதற்கு ஏழு தலைகளும் பத்துக்கொம்புகளும் இருந்தன; அதின் கொம்புகளின்மேல் பத்து முடிகளும், அதின் தலைகளின்மேல் தூஷணமான நாமமும் இருந்தன.
