வானத்தையும் பூமியையும் படைத்த கர்த்தராலே நீங்கள் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள்.

வானங்களைச் சிருஷ்டித்து, அவைகளை விரித்து, பூமியையும், அதிலே உற்பத்தியாகிறவைகளையும் பரப்பினவரும், அதில் இருக்கிற ஜனத்துக்குக் சுவாசத்தையும், அதில் நடமாடுகிறவர்களுக்கு ஆவியையும் கொடுக்கிறவருமான கர்த்தராகிய தேவன் சொல்லுகிறதாவது.

வானத்தையும் பூமியையும் உண்டாக்காத தெய்வங்கள், பூமியிலும் இந்த வானத்தின்கீழும் இராதபடிக்கு அழிந்துபோகும் என்பதை அவர்களுக்குச் சொல்லுங்கள்.

ஆதியிலே தேவன் வானத்தையும் பூமியையும் சிருஷ்டித்தார்.

நம்முடைய தேவன் பரலோகத்தில் இருக்கிறார்; தமக்குச் சித்தமான யாவையும் செய்கிறார்.

அஞ்ஞானிகளுடைய விக்கிரகங்கள் வெள்ளியும் பொன்னும், மனுஷருடைய கைவேலையுமாயிருக்கிறது.

அவைகளைப் பண்ணுகிறவர்களும், அவைகளை நம்புகிறவர்கள் யாவரும் அவைகளைப்போல் இருக்கிறார்கள்.

நீங்கள் கலங்காமலும் பயப்படாமலும் இருங்கள்; அக்காலமுதற்கொண்டு நான் அதை உனக்கு விளங்கப்பண்ணினதும் முன்னறிவித்ததுமில்லையோ? இதற்கு நீங்களே என் சாட்சிகள், என்னைத் தவிர தேவனுண்டோ? வேறொரு கன்மலையும் இல்லையே; ஒருவனையும் அறியேன்.

பேல் பணியும், நேபோ குனியும், அவைகளின் விக்கிரகங்கள் காட்டுமிருகங்களுக்கும் நாட்டுமிருகங்களுக்கும் சுமையாகும்; நீங்கள் சுமந்த சுமைகள் இளைத்துப்போன மிருகங்களுக்குப் பாரமாயிருக்கும்.

ஜனங்களின் வழிபாடுகள் வீணாயிருக்கிறது; காட்டில் ஒரு மரத்தை வெட்டுகிறார்கள்; அது தச்சன் கையாடுகிற வாச்சியால் பணிப்படும்.

மனுஷர் அனைவரும் அறிவில்லாமல் மிருககுணமுள்ளவர்களானார்கள்; தட்டார் அனைவரும் வார்ப்பித்த சுரூபங்களாலே வெட்கிப்போகிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் வார்ப்பித்த விக்கிரகம் பொய்யே, அவைகளில் ஆவி இல்லை.

இப்படியிருக்க, கைகளினால் செய்யப்பட்ட தேவர்கள் தேவர்களல்லவென்று இந்தப் பவுல் என்பவன் சொல்லி, எபேசுவிலேமாத்திரமல்ல, கொஞ்சங்குறைய ஆசியா எங்கும் அநேக ஜனங்களுக்குப் போதித்து, அவர்களை வசப்படுத்திக்கொண்டான் என்று நீங்கள் கண்டும் கேட்டும் இருக்கிறீர்கள்.
