அவர்களுடைய பந்தி அவர்களுக்குக் கண்ணியும், அவர்களுடைய செல்வம் அவர்களுக்கு வலையுமாயிருக்கக்கடவது.

உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்குக் கொடுப்பேன் என்று ஆபிரகாம் ஈசாக்கு யாக்கோபு என்பவர்களாகிய உன் பிதாக்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக் கொடுத்த தேசத்தில் உன்னைப் பிரவேசிக்கப்பண்ணும்போதும், நீ கட்டாத வசதியான பெரிய பட்டணங்களையும்,

பூமியிலுள்ள உயர்ந்த ஸ்தானங்களின்மேல் அவனை ஏறிவரப்பண்ணினார்; வயலில் விளையும் பலனை அவனுக்குப் புசிக்கக் கொடுத்தார்; கன்மலையிலுள்ள தேனையும், கற்பாறையிலிருந்து வடியும் எண்ணெயையும் அவன் உண்ணும்படி செய்தார்.

பழிவாங்குவதும் பதிலளிப்பதும் எனக்கு உரியது; ஏற்றகாலத்தில் அவர்களுடைய கால் தள்ளாடும்; அவர்களுடைய ஆபத்துநாள் சமீபமாயிருக்கிறது; அவர்களுக்கு நேரிடும் காரியங்கள் தீவிரித்து வரும்.

அபிகாயில் நாபாலிடத்தில் வந்தபோது, இதோ, ராஜவிருந்துக்கு ஒப்பான விருந்து அவன் வீட்டிலே நடந்தது; அவன் இருதயம் களித்திருந்தது; அவன் மிகவும் வெறித்துமிருந்தான்; ஆகையால் பொழுது விடியுமட்டும் சிறியகாரியமானாலும் பெரிய காரியமானாலும், ஒன்றையும் அவனுக்கு அறிவிக்கவில்லை.

பேதைகளின் மாறுபாடு அவர்களைக் கொல்லும், மூடரின் நிர்விசாரம் அவர்களை அழிக்கும்.

சேனைகளின் கர்த்தரையே பரிசுத்தம்பண்ணுங்கள்; அவரே உங்கள் பயமும் அவரே உங்கள் அச்சமுமாயிருப்பார்.

கிரியைகளுக்குத்தக்க பலனை அளிப்பார், தம்முடைய சத்துருக்களிடத்தில் உக்கிரத்தை சரிக்கட்டி, தம்முடைய பகைஞருக்குத் தக்க பலனையும், தீவுகளுக்குத்தக்க பலனையும் சரிக்கட்டுவார்.

பெறப்பண்ணுகிறவராகிய நான் பெறச்செய்யாமல் இருப்பேனோ என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்; பிரசவிக்கப்பண்ணுகிறவராகிய நான் பிரசவத்தைத் தடுப்பேனோ என்று உன் தேவன் சொல்லுகிறார்.

தேவனோ அவனை நோக்கி: மதிகேடனே, உன் ஆத்துமா உன்னிடத்திலிருந்து இந்த இராத்திரியிலே எடுத்துக் கொள்ளப்படும், அப்பொழுது நீ சேகரித்தவைகள் யாருடையதாகும் என்றார்.

ஐசுவரியமுள்ள ஒரு மனுஷன் இருந்தான்; அவன் இரத்தாம்பரமும் விலையேறப்பெற்ற வஸ்திரமும் தரித்து, அநுதினமும் சம்பிரமமாய் வாழ்ந்துகொண்டிருந்தான்.

இவ்வுலகத்திலே ஐசுவரியமுள்ளவர்கள் இறுமாப்பான சிந்தையுள்ளவர்களாயிராமலும், நிலையற்ற ஐசுவரியத்தின் மேல் நம்பிக்கை வையாமலும், நாம் அனுபவிக்கிறதற்குச் சகலவித நன்மைகளையும் நமக்குச் சம்பூரணமாய்க் கொடுக்கிற ஜீவனுள்ள தேவன்மேல் நம்பிக்கை வைக்கவும்,

ஏனெனில், தேவதூதர் மூலமாய்ச் சொல்லப்பட்ட வசனத்திற்கு விரோதமான எந்தச் செய்கைக்கும் கீழ்ப்படியாமைக்கும் நீதியான தண்டனை வரத்தக்கதாக அவர்களுடைய வசனம் உறுதிப்படுத்தப்பட்டிருக்க,
