அப்படியிருந்தும், மரணமானது ஆதாம்முதல் மோசேவரைக்கும், ஆதாமின் மீறுதலுக்கொப்பாய்ப் பாவஞ்செய்யாதவர்களையும் ஆண்டுகொண்டது; அந்த ஆதாம் பின்பு வந்தவருக்கு முன்னடையாளமானவன்.

ஆனால் ஆதாம் காலத்திலிருந்து மோசே வரைக்கும் மரணமானது எல்லோரையும் ஆட்கொண்டது. தேவனுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படியாது பாவம் செய்ததால் ஆதாம் மரணமுற்றான், ஆனாலும் ஆதாமைப்போல பாவம் செய்யாமலிருந்தும் பலர் மரணமடைந்தனர். பின்னால் வந்த இயேசுவைப் போன்றவனே ஆதாம்.
