ரோமர் 9:8
அதெப்படியென்றால், மாம்சத்தின்படி பிள்ளைகளானவர்கள் தேவனுடைய பிள்ளைகளல்ல, வாக்குத்தத்தத்தின்படி பிள்ளைகளானவர்களே அந்தச் சந்ததி என்றெண்ணப்படுகிறார்கள்.

அது எப்படியென்றால், சரீரத்தின்படி பிள்ளைகள் ஆனவர்கள் தேவனுடைய பிள்ளைகள் அல்லவே, வாக்குத்தத்தத்தின்படி பிள்ளைகள் ஆனவர்களே அந்த வம்சம் என்று எண்ணப்படுகிறார்கள்.

ஆபிரகாமின் அனைத்து சந்ததியினருமே தேவனுடைய பிள்ளைகள் இல்லை என்பது தான் இதன் பொருள். ஆபிரகாமுக்கு அவர் வாக்குறுதி செய்தார். ஆனால் ஆபிரகாமின் உண்மையான பிள்ளைகள் எல்லாம் தேவனுக்கும் உண்மையான பிள்ளைகள் ஆகின்றனர். ஏனென்றால்

அதாவது இயல்பான முறைப்படி பிறந்த பிள்ளைகளல்ல, வாக்குறுதியின் மூலம் பிறந்த பிள்ளைகளே கடவுளின் பிள்ளைகளாகவும் ஆபிரகாமின் வழிமரபினர்களாகவும் கருதப்படுகின்றனர்.
