இராத்திரிக்குத் தங்கியிரு; நாளைக்கு அவன் உன்னைச் சுதந்தரமுறையாய் விவாகம்பண்ணச் சம்மதித்தால் நல்லது, அவன் விவாகம்பண்ணட்டும்; அவன் உன்னை விவாகம் பண்ண மனதில்லாதிருந்தானேயாகில், நான் உன்னைச் சுதந்தரமுறையாய் விவாகம்பண்ணுவேன் என்று கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு ஆணையிடுகிறேன்; விடியற்காலமட்டும் படுத்துக் கொண்டிரு என்றான்.

இன்று இரவு தங்கியிரு; நாளைக்கு அவன் உன்னை உறவின்முறைப்படித் திருமணம்செய்யச் சம்மதித்தால் நல்லது, அவன் திருமணம் செய்யட்டும்; அவன் உன்னைத் திருமணம்செய்ய விருப்பமில்லாதிருந்தால் நான் உன்னை உறவின்முறைப்படித் திருமணம்செய்வேன் என்று கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு ஆணையிடுகிறேன்; விடியற்காலம்வரை படுத்துக்கொண்டிரு என்றான்.

இன்று இரவு இங்கேயே தங்கியிரு. காலையில் அவன் உனக்கு உதவுவானா என்று பார்க்கலாம். அவன் உனக்கு உதவுவதாகத் தீர்மானித்துவிட்டால் அது மிகவும் நல்லதாக இருக்கும். ஒருவேளை அவன் மறுத்துவிட்டால், பிறகு கர்த்தருடைய பேரால் ஆணையிட்டுக் கூறுகிறேன், நானே உன்னை மணந்துகொள்வேன். உனக்காக எலிமெலேக்கின் நிலத்தையும் வாங்கித் தருவேன். எனவே காலைவரை இங்கேயே படுத்திரு” என்றான்.

திருவிவிலியம்
இந்த இரவு கழியும்வரை நீ இங்கேயே இரு. காலையில் அவர் உன்னுடைய முறை உறவினராகத் தம் கடமையை ஏற்றுக் கொள்ள முன்வருவாரானால் நல்லது. அவர் ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளாவிடில், நானே அக்கடமையை ஏற்றுக்கொள்வேன். வாழும் ஆண்டவர் மேல் இதை ஆணையிட்டுக் கூறுகிறேன். பொழுது புலரும்வரை இங்கேயே படுத்திரு” என்றார்.⒫

Tarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman’s part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee, as the LORD liveth: lie down until the morning.
