நாம் செய்த நீதியின் கிரியைகளினிமித்தம் அவர் நம்மை இரட்சியாமல், தமது இரக்கத்தின்படியே, மறுஜென்ம முழுக்கினாலும், பரிசுத்த ஆவியினுடைய புதிதாக்குதலினாலும் நம்மை இரட்சித்தார்.

தேவனுடன் சரியான வகையில் இருக்கும்பொருட்டு நாம் செய்த எந்த நல்ல செயல்களாலும் இரட்சிக்கப்படவில்லை. அவருடைய கிருபையால் நாம் இரட்சிக்கப்பட்டோம். நம்மைப் புதிய மனிதர்களாக்கும் சுத்திகரிப்பின் மூலமும், பரிசுத்த ஆவியின் புதுப்பிக்கும் வல்லமை மூலமும், அவர் இரட்சித்தார்.

நாம் செய்த அறச்செயல்களை முன்னிட்டு அல்ல, மாறாகத் தம் இரக்கத்தை முன்னிட்டு, புது பிறப்பு அளிக்கும் நீரினாலும் புதுப்பிக்கும் தூய ஆவியாலும் கடவுள் நம்மை மீட்டார்.
